Google Maps can be trusted in Amsterdam including public transport. Alternatively, 9292 or the NS Travel planner can provide you with real-time public transport information.
By Plane
The nearest airport is Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. A taxi to the venue will be about 60 EUR; an Uber will be the same. There is, however, frequent and reliable public transport service. First, take a train to Amsterdam Centraal – any train going there will do. Then follow the instructions for ‘By Train’ below.
A train ticket to Amsterdam Centraal costs EUR 6.65. You can tap in with your bank card. Alternatively, a ticket can be bought from the yellow NS ticket machines. If you want to pay by cash, there’s ticket counters available in the station hall. You will have to have either tapped in or bought your ticket before descending to the platforms.
A train ticket is not valid for your onward journey within Amsterdam, you will need to buy a separated ticket for that. If you are going to spend some more days exploring Amsterdam, the Amsterdam Travel Ticket might be a good option as it includes both the journeys from and to Schiphol and unlimited public transport in Amsterdam for 1, 2, or 3 days.
By Train
Plan your train journey to Amsterdam Centraal. From there on you have three options (fast to slow): bus, tram or walk. If you are using public transport can tap in with your bank card. Don’t forget to tap out again or you will be charged a penalty fare.
For the fastest trip, take GVB bus 22 (direction Muiderpoortstation) from the IJzijde of Amsterdam Centraal station for five minutes and two stops to Kattenburgerplein. Then walk for three more minutes.
For the tram option, take GVB line 26 (direction IJburg) from the IJzijde of Amsterdam Centraal for four minutes and two stops to Kattenburgerstraat. Then enjoy a ten minute walk.
You can also walk to the venue directly, which takes about 25 minutes. This duration seems very appropriate for the occasion and is recommended, weather permitting.
By Car
Regular street parking, provided you can find a spot at all, will set you back EUR 5 per hour. The nearest multi-storey car park is the Parkeergarage IJ-oever Centrum, Vriesseveem 9, 1019 GM Amsterdam. Online pre-booking is recommended. EUR 15 for a whole day, EUR 9 for the evening.
